How to Draw Warrior Cats Step by Step Easy

Are you a fan of Warriors, by Erin Hunter? Want to make your own Warrior cats world? Then keep reading because this is going to be epic!

Steps

  1. 1

Research the warriors series. At the beginning of each Warrior Cats book, there is a map of the four Clans' territory and the allegiances which show the four Clans' cats. You can use the map as a guide and the cats in the Clans, too. There are also descriptions of the Clans' camps throughout the book series that you can use to help you picture how you will draw your own Warrior Cats world.

  2. 2

Draw out a map of the first area. Think this through carefully, as your cats will need some type of shelter and a source of water, as well as a good hunting spot. It can be a Twoleg place where warrior cats lurk, like BloodClan. It can be a forest, a mountain, or anything nature related where a cat would be able to survive in.

  3. 3

Draw out where the clans will live and make names for these Clans. Make sure the Clan names are based off of nature. There should be at least four in each area you make. Based on the Clans' names and their cats, make them live in territories that would suit their needs. An example can be StoneClan, a Clan of cats who are adapted to living in rocky, open areas.

  4. 4

Create a place where medicine cats and leaders from the Clan can speak with StarClan. StarClan is the Clan of warrior ancestors. Cats from all Clans are in it. Medicine cats and leaders speak with StarClan through a sacred place. An example in the real Warrior Cats series is the Moonstone, a large piece of quartz that glows brightly in moonlight. It is hidden in a cave where the Clans' leaders and medicine cats go and touch their noses to it so that StarClan can send sleep to them and they can speak with StarClan through their dreams. Whatever you make up, it could be a Moontree, a Moonfall (a waterfall), a Mooncave, etc. It must be based off of nature however.

  5. 5

Add rivers, ponds, or other sources of water in each Clan's territory. There cannot be any oceans or seas however, since those are too big. If your cat's area is near a lake, you could make a river connecting from the lake. If your Clan is water based, like RiverClan from the series, the water source should be the most important part of the Clan's territory. If not, the Clan should just have a water source so that the cats of the Clan can drink from it.

  6. 6

Create a place for the Clan Gatherings. Gatherings are when the four Clans come together in a certain area in peace and share the news of their Clans. There is a truce at the Gathering so that the Clans don't attack each other. An example is Fourtrees from the Warrior cats series, which is a clearing surrounded by four great oak trees. A giant rock is in the middle of the clearing for the leaders of the four Clans to stand upon and share their news from there. Make something based off of nature as well for the Gathering place. An example is a place near a slope where the leaders can share their news from the topmost part of the slope, while the Clans' warriors listen from the bottom of the slope.

  7. 7

Create cats for each Clan. The cats can relate to the Clan's name. An example is ShadowClan from the Warrior Cat's series. The cats from ShadowClan are proud and battle-hungry, just like their name would suggest. You can make your Clans like that if you'd like. Draw them out as you create their names. Every Clan should have a leader, a deputy (second-in-command), a medicine cat, warriors, apprentices, elders, queens (she-cats nursing or expecting kits), and kits.

    • The leader of the Clan always has the suffix -star at the end of their name. If they were deputy before, they would have their regular warrior name, which could be anything based off of themselves or nature. An example could be Thornfur. If Thornfur was deputy, and became leader, his new name would be Thornstar. Leaders have 9 lives once they make the trip to wherever the sacred place is where the Clans would speak with StarClan.
    • The deputy of the Clan is second in command. Once the leader loses all 9 lives and joins StarClan as an ancestor of the Clans, the deputy succeeds the dead leader. The deputy has to make a trip to wherever you decided the Clans would speak to StarClan, and there, they would gain their 9 lives from StarClan and the last part of their name will become the suffix -star. After they become full leader this way, they need to choose a new deputy.
    • Medicine cats are like healers in the Clan. They help keep the Clans at peace and are close with their leaders and StarClan themselves. Every half-moon, they have to travel to wherever you decided the Clans would speak to StarClan and wait for the medicine cats of rival Clans in order to speak with StarClan and see what they had in store for their Clan. Medicine cats usually have names relating to nature or even herbs. An example can be Cloudpelt. But they don't usually have names relating to being a warrior, like Ravenclaw.
    • Warriors are what mostly make up the Clan. They usually have nature related names or names relating to how they were when they were born or their personalities. An example could be if a warrior was very rowdy when they were born, they could be named Rowdykit. If they had green eyes when they were born, they could be named Greenkit, and when the time came for them to become a warrior, they could be named Greeneye. If an apprentice became a warrior and they were named Branchpaw as an apprentice, they could be named Branchclaw as a warrior. There are lots of other suffixes for warrior names as well, like wisp, fang, tail, fur, pelt, ear, foot, face, spot, stripe, storm, etc. The suffixes of their names are usually chosen to relate to the prefixes in their name. An example can be a cat named Thunderpaw. When they become a warrior, they can be named Thunderstorm. Warriors fight for their own Clan in battles if that time ever comes and they stay loyal to their leader. They sometimes take on apprentices to train them to become new warriors after 6 months of training (6 moons in the Warriors series).
    • Apprentices are cats in training to become warriors. They become apprentices 6 months after they are born. They go through 6 more months of training with their mentors to become warriors. The suffix of their name is always -paw no matter what. The prefix is usually nature-related or like the prefix of any other cat's name.
    • Elders are retired warriors who can no longer serve the Clan. They still keep their regular warrior name. Sometimes, if something happened that caused them to move to the elders' den though, they can choose to have their name changed. An example is Halftail of ThunderClan from the series. He had his name changed because half of his tail was bitten off by another animal. He couldn't climb anymore, which was one of ThunderClan's abilities, so he had to retire.
    • Queens are she-cats who are nursing or expecting kits. They still keep their regular warrior names. Sometimes they become elders right after they finish nursing their kits, or they go back to being a warrior.
    • Kits are the newborn cats of the Clan. Their names are always nature related, but the suffix is always -kit. Once they become an apprentice after 6 months, the suffix becomes -paw, but they still keep the prefix in their name. Once they become a warrior after 6 more months, they keep the prefix in their name, but the suffix gets changed to something random, yet nature related or related to themselves, like -fang, -fur, -claw, -leaf, -pool, -bird, etc. If they ever become deputy, and then leader, the suffix gets changed to -star no matter what.
    • If you'd like, you can write the warrior code down and the personalities and descriptions of each cat.
  8. 8

Create stories with your new Clans. As the books you create go on, draw new cats, create prophecies, and do more! Make a log of things that go on in the Clans! Have friends make their own Clan's territory and have your clans battle! The possibilities are endless! Perhaps your cat was captured by Twolegs, or maybe the cats have to team up against an enemy! Be creative!

  • Question

I am creating a Warriors world, but I can't think of any good clan names. What are some good ideas for clan names I could use?

    Community Answer

When coming up with a clan name, you should consider the terrain and/or the history of the clan/land. If a clan was stoney and mountainous, it might have a name like Rockclan or Stoneclan. If there was once a flood in the clan, it might be named Waterclan or Seaclan. Remember these are some examples, but you should decide based on the history and location of the clan.

  • Question

If my clan's territory is a place full of mountains and it's always sunny, would SkyClan be a good clan name?

    Community Answer

I'm perfectly fine with reusing canon names, but something about SkyClan doesn't feel quite right. I'd suggest BrightClan, SunClan or MountainClan.

  • Question

    Is HawkHeart a good name?

    Community Answer

It depends on the cat. If the cat is a strong fighter, Hawkheart is a good name. If the cat is kind and gentle, you might want to go with something that matches your cat's personality/appearance better.

  • Question

Is it okay that I have only 2 clans?

    Community Answer

That's fine! Along as they fit in the territory they have, any number of clans is fine, as long as there's more than one.

  • Question

Are rivers too obvious for borders in an imaginary Warrior Cats world?

    Community Answer

Rivers are perfect, actually, because they make it more difficult for other clans to pass into your territory.

  • Question

Are MoonClan, SunClan, StormClan, LakeClan, DuskClan, and FireClan good names?

    Community Answer

Those are all very nice names, but it is ultimately up to you to choose!

  • Question

My Clan idea came from the Tribe. Instead of Warriors, there are Hunters and Patrollers. What should I call the fighters? Guards or Slayers maybe?

    Community Answer

I think Guards or Slayers are both very good ideas, but Guards might be the best idea because they are the protectors of the cats.

  • Question

Can I have multiple Warrior Cats clans?

    Community Answer

Sure. There are 4 clans in the books, but you can make as many as you like.

  • Question

About how many clans do you think my Warrior Cats World can have? I have drawn enough territory for all of my clans, but I'm afraid I have too many clans. Is there a limit?

    Community Answer

You can have as many clans as you want but try to have equal (or relatively equal) territory for each clan. I think 4 or 5 clans is a good number but it depends on the area they are in. If they are in a busy two-leg area, there might only be 2 or 3 Clans, but if they are in a place far from two-legs, there could be 6 or 7 Clans in that area. It's all up to you.

  • Question

    What about boundaries?

    Community Answer

Your friend's backyards would be fitting as territories for your Clans. Then, the fences could be boundaries.

  • If you want, you can give cats levels, attack, and defense stats and more.

  • Don't forget that cats don't have superpowers or wings or the ability to speak twoleg (what the cats call humans) or anything like that, no matter how much you want them to. Unless it's in a prophecy, in which case, don't go over-the-top and make them undefeatable. Everyone has a weakness.

  • If you want to be creative, you can draw scenes of events that happen in your Clans.
